[TAG TIME THURSDAY] Throne of Glass Book Tag

When this article is being published, I’m probably still neck deep inside my Kingdom of Ash read since the book has been released two days ago EDIT: I finished the book already yesterday evening! I came across this tag (and created the header images then as well) back when I was still blogging on melissasbookworld.com and I thought it would be a good idea to post this tag article again in honor of the Kingdom of Ash release.

I’d go with the Vampire Academy series. I don’t particularly like the covers but the content of the books is so GOOD! It’s one of my fave series. I’m obsessed with Rose and Dimitri hihi. When reading the series for the first time I finished all 6 books within 7 days and the day after finishing them, I immediately re-read the entire series, lol.

Well, I daresay that Kingdom of Ash HAS destroyed me in the past days… my mini-rant on my Facebook page this morning:

I finished Kingdom of Ash late last night… It’s done.

I’m broken, gutted and beyond repair. This book was everything I’d hoped it to be and more. It was such a beautiful homage to the amazing characters in particular that we got to meet in every book and follow throughout the entire series. Sarah wrote a final installment that does this series proud.

I wasn’t ready to part with this world and won’t ever recover from this read and of knowing that this is the end, that’s for sure. But my heart is filled with joy at the same time, knowing this series got such a worthy final installment.

I am beyond words right now so I really can’t do this book justice the way I really want to aside from some rambling. My feelings are still all over the place – I cried non-stop and don’t have any tears left in me anymore. There’s so much to feel regarding what happened in this book story wise, but then there’s also so much to feel knowing this is IT… This IS IT… The end of an era.

Saying goodbye to this epic world that has become so important to me. Saying goodbye to these characters who’ve all become so precious to me; It hurts. While my heart and soul were hurting while closing the book after a reading experience that rocked my entire being, I smiled. I smiled for all the joy this series has brought me. I smiled for all the amazing characters I got to know throughout the years. I smiled, knowing I’ll always be able to return to this world that means everything to me.

Good luck to all who are still reading or have yet to start. See you on the other side.

Also: Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare was a book that destroyed me and I have a feeling that Clare’s upcoming release Queen of Air and Darkness is going to destroy me as well since Lord of Shadows was already so frigging emotional.

I’ll go with Illuminae by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman. The narration of that book and the other two in the series as well is so unique and unlike anything I’ve read before.

I’ll go with Fighting for Everything by Laura Kaye. I’ll be telling a bit more about this book when you get to EYE OF ELENA.

Oh, there are several book/series that come to mind! The Harry Potter series of course because who wouldn’t want a friendship just like Harry/Ron/Hermione have? And then I’d also go with A Court of Mist and Fury because Rhys’ Inner Circle is GOALS. And the group of friends who Cat gets acquainted with in the Kingmaker chronicles by Amanda Bouchet. I love Griffing and his friends so so much!

Fighting for Everything by Laura Kaye. It’s a contemporary romance with some heavy subjects like PSTD/depression. I’ve read more books on this subject but I’ve never felt so related to a character suffering from depression as I did with this one, even though the character is ex-military and I don’t have any experience with that though haha.

But the way Laura has written it all down is 100% accurate as to how I experienced a lot of my darker days and it DID SOMETHING TO ME; it made me want to change in a way that I actually got to do something. There’s a line in the book that says ‘IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU’ which was so inspiring to me. I’ve tried to get out of my depression several times because nobody wants to suffer like this you know? But somehow I just couldn’t stick to it, you know?

When reading this book, somehow it felt like things fell into place, finally… This book means so much to me and has definitely come at the right time. Tomorrow I’ll be getting my first tattoo with the quote from this book; I’m so excited to have it imprinted on me for the rest of my life. A reminder. An inspiration…All thanks to this book.

So many series that have an astounding world-building. Most of my favorites are all fantasy books. I’m thinking about series like Harry Potter, Throne of Glass, a Court of Thorns and Roses, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, the Remnant Chronicles, the Kingmaker Chronicles… I could go on and on about awesome world-building haha.

I’m also obsessed with stories taking place in London. Whenever I come across a book that has a London setting in it, it makes me want to buy it immediately for that fact alone, lol.

I’ve received quite a lot of books as a gift over the years from friends and family for my birthday or Christmas and such, so it’s hard to choose a specific one…

I’ll go with one that was once gifted to me by one of my favorite authors. Nalini Singh sent me a signed copy of Angel’s Flight some years ago alongside a handwritten letter and it’s one of my most treasured books in the collection!

Again, quite some books that pop up in my head right now haha:

  • KINGDOM OF ASH! Holy shitballs, there are some plot twists in this one that shook me to my core. Good luck to all of you who are still reading it or planning to read it.

– Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
– the Kiss of Deception by Mary e. Pearson
– Blood and Sand by CV Wyck
– Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
– Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead
– Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

The answer to this one is so easy and so ‘in tune’ with the article: THRONE OF GLASS by SARAH J. MAAS. The original Throne of Glass cover is so hideous I think, compared to the ones we all came to love so much. I’m so so sooo happy with the cover change of this book because I am deeply in love with the current UK and US covers.

At the moment, that’s gotta be Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I’ve been such a huge fan of her Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and I remember very well, the moment Laini announced that Strange the Dreamer was coming our way. I was so so so excited to be getting my hands on some new material by this author. I pre-ordered both US and UK hardcover editions. And now, while the sequel is already out yet as well, I still haven’t read Strange the Dreamer – shame on me. I just don’t seem to get into the right mindset to start the book and finish it, you know? It bums me out a lot.

This question is right up my alley because now I get to talk about one of my most favorite books/genres to read; Paranormal Romance. I always say these books contain the best of two worlds; Romance and Paranormal elements.  I love reading stories that combine paranormal/fantasy elements and also have a great romance present, especially if they’re adult romance and there’s some sex added to the story as well – yep, love reading a good sex scene and I’m not afraid to admit that, lol.

Some of my all-time favorites: Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter, Fae Chronicles books by Amelia Hutchins,  Blood Laws by Lexi C. Foss, Atlantis; the king’s return by D.K. Combs and Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet.

SO MANY haha! I love reading swoon-worthy books and since I read romance books a lot, there are a lot of swoon-worthy books I’ve read and love, whether it was YA contemporary or adult romance.

Some of my fave YA contemporary books that made me swoon; Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, Isla and the happily ever after by Stephanie Perkins, Thunder Road trilogy by Katie McGarry, the Replacement Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts

And some of the more adult books I swooned over big time: the Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, one tiny Lie by K.A. Tucker, Wilder by Rebecca Yarros, Never expected you by Jody Holford, Let’s get Textual by Teagan Hunter.

Easy answer; that’ll be The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clarethe Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Those three series completely own my heart and soul ♥

I loved this tag (although I haven’t read the TOG series, so I don’t now the characters, haha)! A book that imitates me is Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, I really want to read it, but it has 900 + pages and it’s written in an ‘older’ format. I’m also intimidated by some fantasy-series/books, because I’m not a huge fantasy reader and it takes me more time to read them. I am really curious about Brandon Sanderson’s books for example, but I haven’t picked them up yet.

    1. 900+ pages are indeed really intimidating! Kingdom of Ash was nearly 1000 pages as well, but I could’ve easily read another 1000 pages, lol. I’m really curious to hear what you’ll think of the series if you ever decided to start reading it. Brandon Sanderson is still on my tbr as well. I’ve read his ya series the Reckoners which I really liked! And I’ve read parts of book 1 in the Mistborn trilogy, which was really great so far so I can’t wait to continue reading. But the trilogy is quite intimidating at the same time; it has a lot of pages, lol.
