[MONTHLY RELEASES] Looking forward to December 2018

The ‘monthly releases’ is an article I  love putting together. It is dangerous though because I always come across so many books I want to read and my wishlist is already so insanely long haha. But I just love looking forward to new releases. I pre-order some books each month and a lot end up on my wishlist. Here’s a list of non-ya books that I’m really interested in – or may have pre-ordered already as well.

At first, I thought December wasn’t going to be big on releases aside from Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare but my god, how wrong was I? R.S. Grey announced a new book, there’s a new Christina Lauren coming our way AND a new Colleen Hoover! So yeah; December is actually going to be great!

My favorite Half Night-Stand by Christina Lauren
Release date: December 4th

a new Christina Lauren? YES!! But my god, they are writing so fast, I can’t keep up with them, lol. But even though I haven’t read their latest releases yet, I already know I want to buy this upcoming release as well because it sounds good haha.

From the New York Times bestselling author that “hilariously depicts modern dating” (Us Weekly) comes a sexy romantic comedy about online dating, and its many, many fails.

With a world-famous speaker at their university, Millie Morris and her four woefully single male colleagues make a pact that they’ll all find dates. Unfortunately, Millie has more success helping them make matches online than she does navigate the onslaught of lewd pics in her own feed. But when she creates a fictional name for a new account, Millie finds herself vying for the online attention of a man she sees every day in the flesh.

HOTSHOT DOC by R.S. Grey
Release date: December 6th

This is aside from Queen of Air and Darkness by C. Clare (Which I’ll show you guys in Tomorrow’s YA edition of monthly releases) my most favorite December release, for sure! R.S. Grey is one of my all-time favorite romance authors and especially this specific book is one I’ve been looking forward to so so much! Read the synopsis and you’ll know why I’m aching to get my hands on this story!

hotshot
Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world- really, just as well guy!- on the off chance he’s within earshot.
I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway… half-hidden behind a plant.

Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.

That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him- the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears- might just be reciprocated.

It’s fine.
I’m fine.

I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the storage closet (Well, no more of those.)
What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

Before we were Strangers by Brenda Novak
Release date: December 4th

I normally don’t look into thrillers that much anymore, but the synopsis of this one sounds intriguing and makes me want to read it haha.

Something happened to her mother that night. Something no one wants to talk about. But she’s determined to uncover her family’s dark secrets, even if they bury her.

Five-year-old Sloane McBride couldn’t sleep that night. Her parents were arguing again, their harsh words heating the cool autumn air. And then there was that other sound–the ominous thump before all went quiet.

In the morning, her mother was gone.

The official story was that she left. Her loving, devoted mother! That hadn’t sat any better at the time than it did when Sloane moved out at eighteen, anxious to leave her small Texas hometown in search of anywhere else. But not even a fresh start working as a model in New York could keep the nightmares at bay. Or her fears that the domineering father she grew up with wasn’t just difficult–he was deadly.

Now another traumatic loss forces Sloane to realize she owes it to her mother to find out the truth, even if it means returning to a small town full of secrets and lies, a jilted ex-boyfriend and a father and brother who’d rather see her silenced. But as Sloane starts digging into the past, the question isn’t whether she can uncover what really happened that night…it’s what will remain of her family if she does?

Captive by Gabrielle Estres

This book was originally written and published on Wattpad and it has received so much love on there. It’s paranormal romance and has historical elements present so that makes me really curious about it!

“A captivating tale of love, power, and betrayal.“

When Katherine, an unworldly, innocent maid, is sold as a slave to the prince of Wallachia, she is terrified of the man who is whispered to be a sorcerer, a monster or even the devil himself.
Imprisoned in his castle, Katherine is shocked by the realization that she is drawn to this enigmatic man and despite his terrifying nature, finds she is desperate to get close to him. The prince, intrigued by Katherine’s beauty, courage and independent spirit, finds himself in an uncomfortable predicament – falling in love with the women he must kill to save his kingdom.

Verity by Colleen Hoover
Release date: December 18th

a new Hoover book? I’m in! I have still so many books to read by this author but whenever there’s a new release coming our way, I get so excited and just want to buy it haha. buy.all.the.books. This is a romantic thriller and the synopsis sounds so intriguing! Can’t wait to read this book. Don’t know if I’m able to buy it in December with Christmas and it is an expensive month as it is, so we’ll see. It’s definitely on my wishlist.

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, the husband of best-selling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

  1. I preorderd Misadventures with a Country Boy and Misadventures with my Ex. So far I’ve loved every Misadventures (I still have 2 read 2 of the first wave and 2 from this one). I also preorderd Undaunted by Helen Hardt (I’ve read part 7&8 as e-ARC’s and will probably read part 9 as e-ARC too if I get the chance, but I love this series so I need to have the book).

    1. Yeah, in order as to what I bought myself, December is really quiet to me as well. I believe I only ordered Queen of Air and Darkness by C. Clare haha and that’s it. But I’ll probably be receiving a lot of books for Christmas since I put mostly books on my lists, lol. Curious to see which books you’ll receive in the boxes!

I’m not really into NA, so I am not familiar with most of the books you’ve listed, but My favorite Half Night-Stand sounds great. I’ve read Autoboyography by the same authors and I really loved that book.

    1. Christina Lauren is mostly always really enjoyable I think. I have my favorites and less favorites among them but this one looks indeed like a fun read, so I’m really curious about it. Haven’t read Autobiography yet but heard great things about that one.
