[TAG TIME THURSDAY] End of the Year Book Tag

I came across this tag over at Melanie’s from Mel to the Any and thought this would be a fun tag to do myself so here we go! Definitely go check out Mel’s article and blog as well, it’s great to visit! She’s such a great blogger and kind person!

In this tag I’ll talk about new releases I’m still waiting for this year, Books I really want to finish reading before the end of 2018 and more. Happy reading!

➽ 1. Are there any book you started this year that you need to finish?

It was hard looking these ones up since I don’t have a list made of the books I picked up but haven’t finished yet haha so I spent some time prowling my bookcases and looking for these specific books. This happens to me a lot; starting a book and then finding out, I’m not really in the right mood for it and putting it aside to finish it another time. Some of the books, this happened with to me this year have been;

  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
  • Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
  • Furyborn by Claire LeGrand
  • Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson
  • Fawkes by Nadine Brandes
  • Contagion by Erin Bowman
  • Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

I really hate putting books back on my shelves while not having finished reading them, but sometimes I just can’t get into the right mood, regardless wether it’s a book of favorite author of mine or not. Because Laini Taylor, Jay Kristoff and Mary e. Pearson for example, are all-time favorite authors of mine and yet I haven’t been able to finish reading these books, which is really frustrating haha.

➽ 2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Hmm, this is a difficult one I think haha. There aren’t that many reads that I specify as being autumn reads in particular that I want to transition into the end of the year. I mean; what specifies an Autumn read exactly? Dunno really haha. I just read whatever I like, whenever I want to haha.

➽ 3. Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

Well, there are several release I’m looking forward to in December but there’s only THE ONE that I’m REALLY 1000% invested in atm and that’s the release of Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare haha. I’m so living towards the release of this book, it’s insane haha. And I feel like I’ve been talking about this author soo much lately but ah well… Her books deserve all the loving!

Aside from QoAaD, I made two lists in my Monthly Releases articles, of December releases I’m also interested in. You can read them below:

➽ 4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Oh boy, I don’t think I can really choose just three haha? But to be honest, at my current reading pace I won’t be able to read that many more with the busy month of December ahead. There are so many books I can choose from so it’s really hard to narrow it down to three since I always want to read so many books at once haha. But my mood is also  really unreliable at the moment so there’s no saying what I’ll be reading exactly, lol. Queen of Air and Darkness is a given though. That one will be read asap. And there’s also a romcom book I’m looking forward to releasing and I’m hoping to read it in December as well; HOTSHOT DOC by R.S. Grey. I’m quite positive this is going to be a guaranteed read as well. And I also hope to get around to reading Skyward by Brandon Sanderson before the year is over.

➽ 5. Is there a book you think could still shock you & become a favorite of the year?

If I manage to get around to reading it, I’m really excited to read Sanctuary by Caryn Lix, which is one of my November haul books. I have high hopes for this one! The synopsis sounds just awesome I think and it looks like it’s 100% my kind of book, so what could go wrong here? lol. *Sssssshht Melissa, don’t jinx it!

➽ 6. Have you already started making reading plans for 2019?

Definitely haha! I’ve already added quite a lot of 2019 releases to my tbr. Some of them are books of favorite authors, like the first book in the Last Hours trilogy by Cassandra Clare that’s due to release, there’s a new scifi series coming our way in 2019 written by Kristoff & Kaufman, and then there’s the new ACOTAR book by Sarah J. Maas, the Throne of Glass world guide and I could go on and one here about sequels/follow-ups alone that I’m excited about haha. But there are also a lot of first books in new series and/or standalone books coming our way, that I’m reaaaaally excited about releasing, buying and reading next year, like; Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller, Sherwood by Meagan Spooner, Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers and many more!

And aside from buying and reading new releases, I’m really excited to tackle my already existing TBR, since there are so many books on my shelves still waiting to be read and I’m excited about every single one of them so I’m definitely ready for 2019!

Aside from reading, there’s also the RARE event in London in September 2019, at which I’m going to meet a lot of my unicorn romance authors. I love meeting authors and this is going to be one of my 2019 highlights! I’ve never been to an event of this large a scale and I’m so frigging excited! In my RARE article, I’ll tell you some more about this event. You can check it out 〉Here

So, that was my End of the Year Book Tag! I really liked doing this one. I’m really bad at tagging specific people haha but I’m going to put down a couple of names anyway. And if you aren’t tagged but feel like writing down this tag yourself, please feel free to do so! Don’t forget to tag me in your article so I’ll get an update when you publish it.

I’m tagging:

What are three books you still want to read before the end of the year?
Love to hear from you!

With love,
Melissa ♥

  1. Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz. I want to read it but I push it aside because I don’t know 😅. Oh my goth by Gena Showalter and the Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand. The last one is a Christmas Carol retelling so perfect for the holidays

    1. thank you! I wanted to do this one a bit sooner because there are questions about which books I still want to finish before the end of the year so I couldn’t wait until the end of December with this particular tag. But I’ll be doing another end of the year book tag as well when the time comes 🙂 Can’t wait to see yours!

    1. thank you! And I know right? Just 3 books… that’s just insane. I have 200+ physical books on my tbr and don’t get me started on the books on my kindle haha and we have to choose 3… yikes. Happy reading in advance.

    1. Her covers are indeed really stunning! It’s quite an investment if you have to start from scratch with her shadowhunter books but they are so worth it I think! If you get around to start reading them I’d love to hear what you think of the books!

    1. thank you! Yeah, that happens to me a lot all the time as well. I’ll never be able to finish all of those before the end of the year but hopefully at least a couple of them 🙂 Happy reading to you in advance. Hope you can tackle some of yours before the end of the year.

    1. Thanks for the reply love ❤ I’m so happy I came across this tag at your blog. It was fun writing it! And oooomgggg I CANNOT WAIT EITHER!!!! SO MANY TEARS ARE GOING TO BE SHED. It’s going to be amazing indeed. I don’t think Clare is able to disappoint, especially when it comes to conclusive books in a trilogie/series like this one is, seeing how good City of Heavenly Fire and Clockwork Princess are. 💕xx

    1. wow you’ve read a lot! I thought I was already well on my way to complete an insane number of finished reads, lol (208 at the moment) I barely DNF books but sorry to hear that you came across a couple of books you felt like DNF’ing.

  2. Thank you so much for the tag! I’ll def do this tag sometime next month!

Btw, you really do need to check out Sanctuary because it so freaking good. It’s just one of those fast moving, exciting books. Caryn is also the sweetest ever, we did the book for a group read in August and she stopped by for a live chat – always makes me even happier when the author is lovely.

I’m so excited to read Skyward as well! I haven’t read anything by Brandon Sanderson before, but I’ve only heard amazing things about his books. I also want to read City of Brass & Dear Evan Hansen before the end of the year.

    1. Oh, I hope we are both going to love Skyward!! City of Brass has been on my tbr for ages as well. Heard great things about it. I’m not familiar with Dear Evan Hansen, so I’m going to check it out. Hope you get around to finish them all. Happy reading!
